How many of you have played games through the Nintendo GameCube Console? The new generation might not be much aware of it even though it offered us high-quality games to play and enjoy our times back then.
The Gamecube video game console was released by Nintendo in Japan and North America in 2001 which was similar to the Sega consoles. It rivaled Sony’s Playstation 2 and Microsoft’s Xbox and was a successor to the Nintendo 64. Gamecube was the first Nintendo console that used optical discs as its storage medium.
The system played only the miniDVD format discs and not the regular-sized DVDs or audio CDs. Online gaming support was limited to only a small number of games. This was allowed through GameCube broadband or a modern adapter by linking the Game Boy Advance with a cable. Thus players could play in-game features using the handheld Gameboy as the secondary screen and a controller like Wii U.
Best Multiplayer GameCube Games
Even though the GameCube was not a great success, it had a positive reception and the controller, vast software library and quality games were all notable. Its appearance was not attractive and had lesser features. Many game cube games gained attention among players and the games continued to exist later on other Nintendo platforms. It is not limited to retro games and that’s why we still have a great fan base for many games that came through GameCube.
Let me share a few Multiplayer GameCube games that were applauded by gamers in the past and even today.
Super Mario Sunshine
The gameplay is themed on a vacation trip set out by Mario and his friends to tropical Isle Delfino. Mario is accused of committing a crime by a maniac who has captured the entire island. Mario equips himself with a powerful water cannon called FLUDD to clean up the entire island.
He must fight against the vandalism of the villain and vanquish him out of the island. Super Mario Sunshine is unique from the usual Mario gameplays and you get to fight new enemies, try different moves, and get surprises like never before. Super Mario Sunshine is power-packed with a plethora of challenges and you would love playing this fun-filled game.
Burnout 2: Point of Impact
With better visualization and control, Point of Impact has better and improved graphics, faster gameplay, detailed and mind-blowing crashes. The older version was inspired by European movies and locations. Burnout 2: Point of Impact was inspired by The Fast and the Furious and other American movies. You will be driving through the roads in the US, driving different models and makes of cars.
Japanese cars, SUVs, pickups, along with bonus police cars and classic 50’s hotrods would be what you get to drive. Mario Kart: Double Dash
I agree that it’s hard to compare the gaming graphics in the present with that of the past. Mario Kart: Double Dash has a lot to offer and everyone enjoyed playing this game. This game was one of the top-selling games of those days and we still have fans who love playing this game.
This was a different level of a racing game with lots of fun and entertainment. Even though the game was not with realistic visuals, everyone loved how the game was picturized.
The Mario Kart: Double Dash game allows you to race with your friends and also had an option for different players to team up. This multiplayer game was way too better than the single-player game where you can coordinate with your partner and plot moves, throw stuff, and even switch places. But this shared kart concept was never seen in the later series of the game. But Mario Kart 8 has showcased a minor part of Double Dash in a better way.
Kirby Air Ride
The Kirby Series was not bad after all and when you think how uniquely impressive the game was, there is no doubt that people would accept it. Usually, it’s a single-player game but the Kirby Air Ride features a multiplayer gaming experience that was vibrant enough to give you a flawless experience. If you forget the graphics, the game was on a top-notch level
This version of the Pikmin was published in 2004 and the game runs on a real-time strategy to explore an obscure planet. All you have to do is bring those tiny plant type creatures under your control and guide them with tasks to destroy obstructions, combat enemies, and collect items. In this game, you will be able to bring 2 creatures under your control. There are co-op challenge missions and a competitive mode to enjoy a better multiplayer experience. This game is considered as a very different multiplayer game you could ever try.
Super Smash Bros. Melee
One of the best multiplayer games that you can play without a second thought is the Super Smash Bros. mee. This game is considered as one of the best Gamecube games so far where you could compete fighting with your friends and beat them in a simple way. There won’t be any balancing issues you have to face while playing the game. This was the first game that people had in their minds when they switched their GameCube on.
If you are a passionate fighter while playing, then this fighting game is what you need to consider. It gained fame after it was released in 2003 and the game offers 7 gaming modes. Time attack, Arcade, Survival, Team Battle, and Versus Mode were most preferred. There are old and new characters with new moves added to their skills.
There are many exquisite games that I have not included in my top GameCube games list. Games like Need for Speed Carbon or most wanted, sphinx and the cursed mummy, or pokemon colosseum, are all thrilling fun games.
Gamecube was not very famous among hardcore gamers but it did penetrate into the minds of many, delivering high-quality games with unique levels, soundtrack, graphics, and unmatched visuals. If you’re still having any of these games or the Gamecube at home, then you might be that lucky person to have a rare piece of art console that has almost vanished from this world.
