1.Dead Cells

Dead Cells is an action platformer game designed by Sebastien Bénard and developed and published by Motion Twin. It was inspired by Metroidvania-style and was released on various platforms including PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, Linux, macOS, Nintendo Switch.

Later it was released in 2019 and 2020 on android and ios respectively. It was awarded a game award for the best action game.

You (player) will take the shape of a creature that takes control of a corpse in a dungeon, through which they must fight their way out. You will collect weapons, treasure, and various tools by exploring levels generated through procedures.

You will have to fight undead creatures around you. Sometimes, you will be awarded cells, a  type of in-game currency that lets you buy, upgrade or unlock items or weapons. Since Dead Cells is a permadeath game, players would lose all their cells and achievements once they die. 

2.Enter the Gungeon

Enter the Gungeon is developed by Dodge Roll and published by Devolver Digital. The game was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, OS X, Linux, and PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch.

Since the game is a fast-paced bullet shooter game with roguelike elements, it is compared to other prolific games like THE BINDING OF ISAAC and NUCLEAR THRONE.The game follows four adventurers in a Gungeon where you will need to find a gun to kill one’s past.

Throughout the journey, players will have to fight enemies and collect new guns through procedurally generated levels. Each gun would be having different behaviors that would support you vanquish your enemies throughout your journey. Initially, you are allowed to choose your character from 4 available options including Marine, Convict, Pilot, and Hunter.

Each of these characters has got different abilities and you can unlock more characters by progressing with the game. A Farewell to Arms and Rainbow Mode would excite your gameplay further.

3.Spelunky 2

Spelunky 2 runs on a 2020 platform which is developed and designed by Mossmouth and BlitWorks, released for Windows and Playstation. It is the sequel to Spelunky that was released in 2008. The Nintendo Switch version is yet to be announced and is expected to be launched by the quarter of 2021.

Noita is an action and adventure-packed story-based game put forward by Nolla Games based in Helsinki, Finland. There is a witch that players can control and cast a spell to wipe out enemies’ that are mythological creatures.

5.Gonner

Gonner aka GoNNER is a roguelike game published by Raw Fury and was developed by Art in Heart. It is available for Microsoft Windows, macOS, and Linux and Nintendo Switch versions. Users who played the game felt it a shooting version of Spelunky.

Last year was when they launched the sequel of the game.One of the Rogue-like features of Gonner includes more heads and limbs that get be selected after unlocking multiple playthroughs.

There are a lot of other acts in the game causing bullets to be larger in size, for faster shooting. Four worlds are available in Gonner and players only move to the next world after they destroy the current world’s end boss. GoNNER has received positive reviews from its users.

If you love space and would expect roguelike elements to be in a space-themed game, then look nowhere else. Everspace will surprise you with its visualization that elates your mood. This 3D space shooter roguelike game is developed by rockfish games and suitable for single players only.

It has roguelike elements and storytelling that’s not linear. If you loved the game, then a sequel is yet to be launched in 2021. 

Talking more about the gameplay, each time when players progress to the next stage, the excitement and difficulty would only keep increasing. This space combat is highly addictive and once when the player dies, you can use the earned credits as perks that would help you with follow-through.

The player can use weapons, add-ons get the ability to craft/upgrade various systems, weapons, and shields in the ship. Get tasks assigned and collect the reward once you accomplish it. Overall the game is good but some find it repetitive. The game has scintillating visuals and you will be admiring the space with its real-like experience while playing the game.

Make sure you don’t crash yourself on an asteroid after getting lost in the beauty of space.

8.Risk of Rain 2

Risk of Rain 2 is a sequel  3rd person shooter game developed by Hopoo Games which was published by Gearbox Publishing. It was released for Microsoft, Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4, and Xbox One. The gameplay is all about a survivor who has been stranded on a planet of aliens.

Once you play the game, you have to go through environmental changes by killing enemies and stealing chests. This will boost your capacity to attack and defend. Progressing through stages would make this difficult as you will have to deal with stronger monster aliens. If you prefer online gameplay, up to 4 players can be supported.

9.Moonlighter

Moonlighter is an RPG action-packed game launched by Digital Sun and published for Microsoft Windows, macOS, Linux, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One. In the game, the player can explore at night and manage their shop during day time. 

Through shopkeeping, they can sell goods, manage them and earn money. This money can be used for town upgrades by adding services like a potion maker or a blacksmith. Thus upgrading the town will allow the player to create his weapon, armor, and potions for health.

You can also hire a part-time worker to do the selling at your shop. You can upgrade characters. Nighttime is when dungeons can be explored and fight enemies to win loots. The game has 4 dungeons including Golem, Jungle, Desert, and Tech Dungeons. Indeed a game well in demand with positive reviews.

10.The Binding of Isaac

The Binding of Isaac is a dark themed roguelike game where a young boy is fighting his way out of a locked basement with tears. You being the player have to fight biblical monsters and everything including your own mother in the game.
